What is happening

Between September 1 and October 14, 2026, American Express is adding 30 percent when you move Membership Rewards points into Hilton Honors.

Why the number looks bigger than it is

Amex to Hilton is already a two for one transfer, so 1,000 Amex points normally land as 2,000 Hilton points. With the bonus you get 2,600. That sounds enormous until you remember Hilton points are worth about half a cent each, which is a fraction of what an Amex point is worth.

So is it any good

It works out to roughly 1.3 cents of value for every Amex point you move. That is not thrilling, but it is not bad either, and it beats cashing Amex points out. It only makes sense if you already have a Hilton stay picked and you are short.

The real ratio

Normally 1,000 Amex points become 2,000 Hilton points
With the bonus, 1,000 Amex points become 2,600 Hilton points
That is roughly 1.3 cents of value per Amex point
Hilton points are worth about half a cent each

Expires: October 14, 2026. Transfers are one way and cannot be reversed. Confirm the bonus is showing in your own Amex account before you move anything, and price the hotel night first.

Do not move points here just because 30 percent sounds like a lot. Find the Hilton night, see how many points you are short, then move exactly that. Speculative transfers into a half cent currency are how people end up with a big balance and nothing to spend it on.
