Chase is adding 20 percent when you move Ultimate Rewards points to Air Canada Aeroplan. Chase to Aeroplan is already one to one, so 50,000 points become 60,000 Aeroplan points. If you hold the Chase Aeroplan card you get a further 10 percent on top, which takes the same transfer to 65,000.
The stacking part, honestly
That extra 10 percent is not automatic and it is not unlimited. It needs a transfer of at least 50,000 points to trigger at all, and the bonus it pays out caps at 25,000 points, so you would have to move 250,000 points to squeeze the last of it. For most people the realistic number here is 20 percent, not 30.
The detail nobody else is telling you
The cutoff is 11:59pm Eastern on September 30, not midnight wherever you happen to be and not the following morning. And the transfer is one way. Once those points are Aeroplan points, Chase cannot take them back, which is why you find the seat before you move anything, never after.
Why Aeroplan is worth knowing about
Aeroplan is a Star Alliance programme, so it does not just book Air Canada. It books EgyptAir, Ethiopian, Turkish, Lufthansa and United too. For anyone trying to get to Africa or Europe on points, that is a far more useful set of options than the Air Canada name suggests.
