On the first of every month Flying Blue publishes a short list of routes and takes up to 25 percent off the usual miles. September's list is live. You have to book inside September, but you can fly any time through February 28, 2027, which is a much longer runway than most award sales give you.
This one is an actual flight, not a currency
Most of what lands on this page is points moving between accounts. This is different. These are seats you can book, on Air France and KLM, priced in miles you may already have sitting in Amex, Chase, Citi, Capital One, Bilt or Marriott. If you have been holding points and waiting for a reason, this is the kind of thing they were for.
The routes worth a look
Cape Town from Europe is 22,500 miles one way in economy, and that is the one I would be looking at hardest. Singapore and Osaka are the same 22,500. New York, Washington, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Montreal and Miami are 18,750. If you want a lie flat, Minneapolis and Mexico City are 45,000 in business, and Bangkok, Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires are 63,750.
The catch, and there is one
The promo covers flights to and from Europe on Air France and KLM operated flights, so a trip from the US is really the Europe leg plus a connection through Paris or Amsterdam. The prices above are the lowest available and they are subject to award availability, which is the part nobody controls. Check your dates before you move a single point into Flying Blue, because transfers are one way.
